Foot Health Practitioner

A Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) is qualified to provide foot care treatments and maintenance for your feet. They can assess the condition of your feet and treat as appropriate and refer you if necessary.
I am a fully qualified diploma Level 4 Foot Health Practitioner based in Launceston.
DBS checked and insured.
I provide a mobile service to all areas within an 18 mile radius of Launceston.
I also provide a regular service to nursing, care and supported living homes within a 25 mile radius of Launceston.
All common foot problems are treated in your own home in comfort with plenty of time allocated to appointments to ensure a professional service.
You can also book a basic finger nail cut & file as an add on to your foot appointment.
A health questionnaire is filled in prior to the appointment and any problems discussed to decide appropriate treatment.
I specialise in the elderly and dementia care after spending 13 years in nursing and care work so have a broad knowledge of elderly care requirements.

Foot Health Practitioners are not licensed to give anaesthetic injections or do any type of nail surgery.
If you require those treatments you will be referred to a clinic where they can provide that.

TREATMENTS

As a Foot Health Practitioner these are some of the common problems that can be treated in the appointments in your own home.

Foot Health Practitioners are not licensed to administer anaesthetic injections or do nail surgery.

Corns and Calluses
Corns and calluses are areas of hard, thickened skin that develop when the skin is exposed to excessive pressure or friction. They commonly occur on the feet and can cause pain and discomfort when you walk.
The problems are treated with scalpels and files
Callus
Removal with files and scalpels to relieve the problem

Cracked Heels
A painful problem relieved by treatment with files and scalpels
Ingrowing Toe Nails
Ingrown toe-nails are a common problem. Typically caused by a sharp spike of nail that pierces the adjacent skin, the toe may become inflamed or even infected. this may occur due to: the way you walk/stand, any foot deformities, poor fitting footwear, the shape of your toe-nail or the way they have been cut.
We treat with files and small nippers. If we can't relieve the problem due to pain levels or if the nail has imbedded too deeply we will refer you to a clinic to have a minor nail surgery procedure under local anaesthetic.

Fungal & Thickened Nails
We evaluate suspected fungal nails and recommend appropriate treatment.
Thickened nails will be trimmed, burred and filed to relieve the problem
Athlete's Foot
This will be examined and the recommended treatments advised

Verrucae
The problem will be evaluated, advice given and maybe referral to a clinic
Toe Nail Cutting
General nail cutting, filing and burring to maintain healthy feet.
